the war powers act allows the President to wage military action for a short period without congressional action under specific circumstances only, NONE of which are satisfied. That is why SENATOR Obama, as candidate for the Presidency said the following:

"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation"

.--Sen. Barack Obama, December 20, 2007

Let's add clarity and not confusion to the debate. First, the financial responsibility laws related to automobiles may vary from state to state. Speaking from Florida and its requirements,. Florida, like most states, requires that the owner of a vehicle show proof of financial responsibility for potential losses occasioned by the operation of the vehicle. e.g. accident damage In Florida the law also ALLOWS for proof of insurance as a SUBSTITUTE for proving financial responsibility.

One available alternative is the posting of a bond in the form of cash or having a surety post if for you in consideration of a premium payment-- closely analogous to insurance but different. So let's not spread the in correct information that insurance is universally required as you suggest, as it is not.

A second difference is that any requirement by the state that you have such insurance as a precondition of operating a vehicle is coming from the state. The FEDERALLY mandated health insurance requirement is a violation of the limited delegation of sovereign powers to the feds and therefore unconstitutional, although I fully expect the federal courts to uphold the decision or split on it so that it gets to the Supremes who will decide that there is sufficient authority under the interstate commerce clause--total BS but that is the intellectual dishonesty factor for you. And this continued infringement may result in a political upheaval with implications of the use of force to turn back the tyrant, again.

As for health insurance and denial of claims and the ever increasing cost for care, the only group that is not being closely examined is one of the biggest spenders on congressional and state legislator political campaigns-- the insurance industry.

Think about it, the moment you sign a contract with them for insurance coverage they are in direct conflict with you and therefore antagonistic to your claims as any payment for covered care results in a decrease in profitability. That’s why 500 MILLION claims a day are denied. Even a delay in payment of legitimate claims results in a financial gain for the holder of the premium dollar and if they are lucky and the provider of care or the insured fail to pursue the claim over bogus denials then the benefit inures to the insurance companies.

Insurance companies and their role as a regulated industry need to be examined and a dialogue engaged in to find a solution that meets present day needs for delivery of health care. The fact is that health care is not a basic right and we should recognize this
